About us... Great Lakes Division: The Great Lakes Division of USAWSSC (now STORM) was
formed in May of 2001 by Patrick Gannon, Keith Thews, and Bill
Kentner. It was orginally known as the Michiana Division.
The revised division (known as the Great Lakes Division), covered several states near the 5 Great Lakes. In 2003 the Indiana chapter took off with leaps and bounds after some members left a previously USAWSSC supported group (Michiana CB Emergency Service). The group also began to assist at public safety functions (for Traffic Control and Parking Cars-giving our team great PR). With the restructing of the team into the new STORM, we will have new a new history to tell. . Special Thanks goes to the Elkhart City Department of Emergency & Support Services and the Wicked Jesters Entertainment Group (for allowing the Elkhart, IN. crew to assist them with their functions in 2004 and 2005). Special Thanks goes out to Mr. Jose Mejia for creating the logos for the first two supported chases of the team (by members: David Diehl and Kurt Hulst). The GL Division has the following leaders: Keith Thews-Director Mary Petelin-Asst. Director Keith Thews-(un-Official)-NorthernIndiana/Elkhart Chapter Director Mary Petelin-Northern OH. State Director Kurt Hulst-Michigan State Director We have members in IN., OH., MI, WI., and IL. We are always looking for more members. Sign up for the yahoogroup to discuss USAWSSC and to subscribe. There is no charge to join. Great Lakes Divisional

We
are an division of the US Advanced Storm Spotters/Chasers headquarted
out of VA. We promote safe and responsible Skywarn spotting
(under IMO Skywarn- National Weather Service-North Webster ) and
chasing. This is a non-profit group and does not cost anything to join. For further information, access the USWASSC page link. Patrick Gannon is the US President for the agency. |
*Note:
Chasing in any sort is very dangerous. If you do not know what
you are doing you could be in serious danger. It is recommended that
you study and attend a skywarn class before partaking in such a
venture. Make sure that you have at least one year experience as
a
spotter before attempting any sort of chasing. Access the link below
which has a lot of information about the subject. |
